Florida Pellitory (Parietaria Floridana)

Annual herb native of North America. It is often called "clear weed" because of translucent stems. Florida pellitory is found in cultivated fields, non-crop areas, and roadsides. It prefers shady conditions and does not tolerate hot weather.
Leaves are alternate and leaf tips are somewhat rounded with a short point. Leaves have very fine hairs (requires 15X magnification to be seen).
Stems are very fragile and translucent. Stems lie on the ground but with the tips ascending.
Flowers are inconspicuous and form in the leaf axil.
Propagation is by seed.
