Annual grass native of Eurasian tropics commonly found in cultivated fields, disturbed sites, and roadsides.
Seedling leaf and sheath are smooth with long stiff hairs along the margin. Ligule is a fringed membrane.
Leaf blade is smooth or with long stiff trichomes, and hairy margins. Leaf sheath is not hairy. Ligule is a membrane with a fringe of hairs at the top.
Flower or seedhead is like a crow’s foot. Spikelets are arranged on two to six fingers radiating at the tip of the stem with outer tips extended resembling a crow’s foot.
Stems are bent and root at lower nodes, tips ascend, and can grow up to 28 inches tall.
Propagation is by seed.
