The EREC celebrated the retirement of Dr. Mabry McCray and hosted a celebration on January 12, 2024.
Dr. McCray was a faculty member with the University of Florida/IFAS at the EREC and the Agronomy Department for 20 years! Current and former colleagues from UF IFAS, EREC, and EAA growers came together to celebrate this special ceremony!
Dr. McCray worked tirelessly throughout these years to update fertilizer recommendations of various nutrients for sugarcane production in organic and mineral soils. He leaves a legacy of hard work and dedication to the growers in south Florida. Dr. McCray also served as the Director of the Everglades soil testing laboratory at EREC. Throughout his research, he updated soil testing methods and purchased new equipment for the lab to be more efficient and effective.
Heartfelt congratulations to Dr. McCray on his retirement from everyone at EREC and the EAA growers community.
