Dr. Pahariya Prachi
Assistant Scientist, Department of Food Sciences and Nutrition
Dr. Prachi Pahariya is an Assistant Scientist in the Department of Food Science and Nutrition at the Everglades Research and Education Center, with a 100% Extension appointment. Her specialization is in food processing and food safety, and her Extension program focuses on food safety and food entrepreneurship, with an emphasis on food safety practices and compliance with the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). Her program provides research-based education and training to growers, food producers, food entrepreneurs, and other stakeholders on food safety practices across the food system, from on-farm produce production and handling to food processing and product development. She collaborates with faculty, Extension agents, industry partners, government agencies, and clientele groups across Florida to identify food safety needs and develop practical educational programs. Her Food Safety and Food Entrepreneurship programming aligns with UF/IFAS Extension priorities, with a strong emphasis on promoting safe produce production and handling and supporting the development of safe, high-quality food products.
