Dr. Mohsen Tootoonchi
Assistant Scientist - Soil, Water and Ecosystem Sciences
My area of specialization is water quality. I conduct research and extension projects on agricultural practices that enhance the sustainability of farming and improve environmental quality.
My current research is focused on the implementation and verification of best management practices (BMPs) to reduce phosphorus loads from agricultural farms in southern Florida, and improve soil quality both on organic and sandy soils. In addition, I study greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from various agricultural systems.
In collaboration with other university faculties and extension agents, I combine data analytic skills with biogeochemistry to provide solutions to the farmers in the Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA) and perform long-term data analysis for public agencies and the agricultural industry.
