Mission Statement

The Everglades Research & Education Center (EREC) near Belle Glade is an agricultural and environmental research and education unit of the University of Florida'sInstitute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS). The sixteen scientists, along with eighty staff members, are from various academic disciplines (see faculty list) and participate in interdisciplinary team approaches to investigate agricultural and environmental issues.

The mission of the Everglades Research and Education Center is to conduct research and extension  programs in southern Florida that will explore and promote profitable and sustainable agricultural systems. These systems should conserve and protect our soil, water, and natural resources, and contribute to an improved quality of life for Florida citizens.
