Stems are erect, branching, smooth or hairy, up to 3 feet tall. Leaves are alternate, simple, petioled, rounded but longer than wide (egg-shape outline), smooth or hairy. Roots are fibrous with a shallow taproot. Flowers are small and white with yellow middles. Fruits are green berries and turn black as they mature. Propagation is by seeds.
