IRRIGATION PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICES IN FLORIDA

LECTURE:
Tuesdays 6:00- 9:00 pm in Room 204A Ft. Lauderdale REC
 
COLLEGE DESCRIPTION:
The course will cover irrigation practices related to Florida agriculture. The course will also cover different Irrigation system characteristics, management and maintenance.

 

OBJECTIVE:
The objective of this class is to familiarize the students with the water resources in Florida, the different irrigation practices in Florida, and the most common problems faced.

 

TEXTBOOK:

There is no textbook for the class.  Lecture notes can be accessed from the class website. Having the notes is no substitution for lecture.  Additional materials and information are presented in the lecture. 

 

INTERNET ACCESS:

All lecture materials (Power Points, PDF handouts, and homework) are posted on the class website on Vista. To access the website, go to http://lss.at.ufl.edu , click on Vista, University of Florida, and log on using your gatorlink. Please note you have to have a current gatrolink account and be a registered student to get access.

 
GRADING:

3 one-hour exams each at 25 % grade = 75 %; Homework @25 %

   
Grade Scale:

A = 90%; B+ = 86 %; B = 80%; C+ = 76 %; C = 70 %; D+ = 66 %; D = 60 %.

Individual exams will not be “curved”.  One to 2 % will be added to overall individual student grades before assigning final course grades, based on classroom participation including attendance. 

Missing Exams:

If you will be unable to attend class on the date of a scheduled exam, please contact me prior to exam date to arrange an alternative exam time.
