Grow-out and Characterization of Late Maturing Rice Germplasm Accessions

Situation or issue identification: Certain accessions in the National Small Grains Collection have seed which is old and losing vigor. We grow out and describe traits of accessions that cannot be increased elsewhere in the US due to their long growth period.

Rationale for research support resources: If these accessions are not regenerated, they will be lost.

Measurable or potential impact in terms of social, economic, and/or environmental factors resulting from expenditure of research support funds: Service to US and world rice genetics programs.

Collaborating organizations/agencies and teaching/research/extension partnerships: USDA/ARS National Small Grains Repository.
